Machine commissioning is where the electrical design, panel, PLC, HMI, drives, robots, field devices, and operator workflow are proven together. TechControl supports controlled startup for new equipment, upgrades, and existing machines throughout Ontario, Canada, and travel-based projects.

What commissioning includes

  1. Power and safety verification
  2. I/O checkout against the drawing package
  3. Device networks (drives, remote I/O, robots)
  4. Dry-cycle, then product trials
  5. Punch-list closeout and backup of final programs

Common problems we solve

We resolve incorrect I/O mapping, missing device feedback, drive and network faults, unsafe or incomplete recovery sequences, incorrect HMI diagnostics, robot handshakes, incomplete panel documentation, and production issues that only appear with actual material.

Our process

Every project begins with a consultation, site assessment, and review of drawings, software, hardware, safety interfaces, and production constraints. We coordinate solution development, electrical design, panel fabrication, PLC/HMI work, factory testing, installation, site acceptance testing, documentation, and support. Timelines vary by complexity, equipment availability, and production access.

Technologies, industries, and service areas

We commission Allen-Bradley CompactLogix and ControlLogix systems, Studio 5000 projects, FactoryTalk View HMIs, PowerFlex drives, EtherNet/IP devices, Siemens and Omron controls where appropriate. We support manufacturing, automotive, food and beverage, packaging, pharmaceutical, material handling, plastics, warehousing, and processing applications in Toronto, Mississauga, Etobicoke, Brampton, Vaughan, Hamilton, Oakville, Guelph, across Canada, and Europe.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between FAT and SAT?

Factory testing verifies the system before installation; site testing verifies the installed machine with its real utilities, material, and operating conditions.

Do you provide operator training?

We review normal operation, alarms, recovery, and the final handoff with the people who will run and maintain the equipment.

Can you commission an existing retrofit?

Yes. We support upgrades involving PLCs, HMIs, drives, panels, networks, and machine interfaces.

Can you travel for startup?

Yes. We provide local and travel-based commissioning support as project requirements allow.
