TechControl provides PLC programming in Mississauga, the GTA, Ontario, and across Canada for new equipment and existing machines. Our work focuses on control programs that operators can run, maintenance teams can diagnose, and plants can back up and support after commissioning.

What PLC programming includes

  • New machine logic, I/O mapping, sequence control, and operator modes
  • Allen-Bradley CompactLogix, ControlLogix, and Studio 5000 programming
  • FactoryTalk View and PanelView handshakes, alarms, recipes, and diagnostics
  • Legacy PLC conversions, program cleanup, backups, and documentation
  • VFD, robot, remote I/O, EtherNet/IP, and machine-device integration
  • Startup, commissioning, fault recovery, and production support

Common PLC problems we solve

Plants call us when a machine has recurring faults, an obsolete controller, unclear alarms, missing backups, inconsistent changeovers, or no one who can safely modify the existing program. We also investigate communication faults between PLCs, HMIs, drives, remote I/O, and robots. The first task is to establish whether the cause is logic, I/O, network, electrical, mechanical, or a combination of those systems.

Our PLC programming process

  1. Initial consultation and quotation: define the machine, production goal, outage constraints, and available documentation.
  2. Site assessment: review PLC hardware, I/O, networks, drives, HMI screens, safety interfaces, and the real machine sequence.
  3. Solution development: define tags, sequence states, permissives, alarms, recovery behavior, and operator workflow.
  4. Electrical and panel coordination: align I/O lists, drawings, panel work, and field devices with the program.
  5. PLC and HMI development: build logic, diagnostics, recipes, and screen interfaces that reflect the installed equipment.
  6. Factory testing and commissioning: test I/O, normal operation, faults, communication loss, and controlled recovery.
  7. Documentation and support: provide project backups and record the final system configuration.

Timelines vary with machine complexity, hardware availability, site access, and the scope of commissioning. A small program change may take days; a custom machine or legacy conversion needs a planned engineering and startup schedule.

Technologies and platforms

Allen-Bradley CompactLogix and ControlLogix systems are common requests, including Studio 5000, FactoryTalk View, PanelView, PowerFlex drives, and EtherNet/IP devices. We also support selected Siemens and Omron applications where those platforms are already part of the facility standard. The exact approach depends on the installed hardware, firmware, process requirements, and available backups.

Industries and service areas

We support manufacturing, automotive, food and beverage, packaging, pharmaceutical, material handling, plastics, warehousing, and industrial processing applications. TechControl serves Mississauga, Toronto, Etobicoke, Brampton, Vaughan, Hamilton, Oakville, Guelph, and projects across Canada. We have supported installations, startups, and commissioning from Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Ottawa, Montreal, and Halifax, including work in Nova Scotia and Europe.

Frequently asked questions

Can you work with an existing PLC program?

Yes. We can review, back up, document, modify, and commission existing programs while preserving the machine’s established operating requirements.

Do you provide Studio 5000 programming?

Yes. Studio 5000 programming for CompactLogix and ControlLogix systems is a common part of our PLC work.

Can you travel for startup support?

Yes. We provide local and travel-based support for installation, commissioning, and production startup as project requirements allow.

How much does PLC programming cost?

Cost depends on I/O count, machine sequence, safety scope, HMI work, hardware, installation, and commissioning. We provide a project-specific quotation after reviewing the application.

Why work with TechControl

We focus on custom, supportable control systems with useful diagnostics, clear documentation, and a practical handoff to the people responsible for the equipment. Related support includes HMI development, VFD programming, machine commissioning, and industrial troubleshooting.
