Control-panel troubleshooting should begin with a safe, documented boundary: what is powered, what is faulted, and what changed? Work from incoming power and control power toward the PLC, I/O, drives, network, and field devices. Electrical measurements should be performed by qualified personnel.

Power and protection

Check approved indicators, disconnect state, fuses, breakers, power supplies, and cabinet conditions. Do not open or measure energized equipment without the required procedures, training, and PPE.

Controller and I/O

Review PLC mode and faults, module status, input/output indicators, and the expected sequence. If a field signal is wrong, use PLC I/O troubleshooting to separate wiring from configuration and tag problems.

Drives and networks

Check drive ready/fault state, control source, enable, command, reference, and communications. For network problems, verify link, addressing, switch status, and project paths rather than repeatedly resetting devices.

Document the repair

Record the first fault, measurements, changed components, parameter revisions, and final test. Update drawings and backups so the next failure starts with better information. TechControl provides industrial troubleshooting and control panel design.
